FAQs

Do we have on-line booking?

We now have on-line booking available and we do not require you to provide credit card information to do so!  If you are ICBC, MSP or looking for something specific for treatment please call us at 604-431-0005 to discuss booking appointment - if we do not answer please leave a message so one of us can call you back.

Do we do direct billing?

We currently do not direct bill any extended health plans - if clients qualify for low income they have reduced fees with MSP coverage. Clients will be provided all information on receipts required by plans to process claim with their own plan on-line and receive reimbursement. Clients maintain control of their sensitive data with no storage of credit card and private insurance information.

Parking available?

There is free street parking in front of office - just be aware of rush hour restrictions on Kingsway to avoid towing!  We have no street parking on our side of Kingsway between 3 and 6 pm - but the opposite side is open to park after 9:30 am.  Bus stops and skytrain are nearby for transit.

What payment methods accepted?

We have terminal for Visa/Mastercard and debit transactions and cash always accepted.  We do not accept American Express.  We do not offer any package deals as we try to keep our fees very reasonable - all fees listed in fee schedule include GST.

Do we do deep tissue treatment?

All of us work to appropriate tissue depth to achieve results - if looking for something specific please talk to RMT/Acupuncturist on booking appointment and we will try to book you accordingly.  All of us have different focus of interests with techniques - main goal is for client to benefit from therapy. See Practitioners page and Benefits pages for details.

What do I need to bring?

Nothing required as you will be fully covered except for area being treated.  If you are more comfortable please bring shorts or sports bra.  Oils and lotions are used and are tolerated well by most - if sensitive skin can bring in own oil/lotion for RMT to use as long as it is not medicated.

Where are we located?

We are at 2386 Kingsway, just East of Kingsway and Nanaimo. The clinic is a 10 minute walk from the Nanaimo Skytrain station and bus routes #19 and #25 will bring you within half a block of our door.

What are the hours of operation?

Monday-Friday 10am-7pm Saturday 9am-3pm *for evenings and Saturdays please book in advance .

What techniques are used?

The various techniques used are unique to each practitioner. Feel free to talk to your RMT about any specific techniques you are looking for and what techniques they employ in their treatments. Deep tissue treatments are available. Professional treatments only. Acupuncture services involve insertion of thin needles into specific points on the body, ear and scalp and may involve electro-acupuncture and could be combined with cupping.

How do I book an appointment?

Online for Acupuncture and RMT within 4 weeks. Appointments beyond 1 month in advance are made by calling the clinic at 604-431-0005.  We might be available to take your call but in the event you are sent to voicemail, please leave a detailed message as we do not have a receptionist to receive calls.

It is very important your therapist is informed if the visit is related to a motor vehicle accident

All our RMTs are not directly billing ICBC at this time but clients who access our services within first 12 weeks can claim for reimbursement from ICBC.  Beyond 12 weeks requires approval

What is the procedure for acupuncture?

Acupuncture includes the following:  consultation, diagnosis, needle insertion, needle manipulation and retention, needle removal and post-removal observation. This procedure could be combined with cupping therapy.

What is extended health coverage?

This may be offered through your employer and varies with each provider. An example could be 80% with a maximum dollar amount per year.

Can you bill them directly?

No, we are not equipped to bill the company directly at this time. You will be required to pay at the time of treatment and given a receipt with all of the information required for your reimbursement

What is ICBC coverage? Do I need to pay for anything?

The Insurance Corporation of British Columbia provides registered massage therapy and acupuncture coverage to those involved in motor vehicle accidents.  ICBC offers 12 treatments within 12 weeks from accident date.  After that time frame approval for billing ICBC for treatments will be required and can be requested by practitioner.   It is recommended that client's seeking  services for their injuries do so within the first 12 weeks post-MVA otherwise there is no basis established for practitioner requesting any treatment extensions.  Any extension for ICBC treatments at our clinic will be at practitioner's discretion - in other words justified and assessed as necessary for injury recovery.  Please note that is it not necessary to fulfill 12 treatments in 12 weeks - this is unrealistic in terms of injury recovery and often scheduling - therefore as mentioned above it is good to start your visits within that time frame, as provided by ICBC for all MVA clients, and if continued treatment is indicated for your injury recovery your practitioner will apply for extension of time to so do.

Yes, you will be required to pay a fee for all ICBC visits as per our private fee schedule.   At this time only RMT services available for ICBC - call clinic to book appropriate therapist for treatment

What is MSP coverage? Do I need to pay for anything?

The Medical Services Plan may provide coverage to those with a yearly income of $28,000 or less. You can use your Care Card to inquire about coverage.

Yes, you will be required to pay a user fee for each session. MSP pays $23 per visit only, regardless of treatment time.   At this time only RMT services available for MSP clients

Do we treat Work Safe BC claims?

Unfortunately we are unable to take clients on open claims with Work Safe (WCB) as we do not have billing system required for these services.  Client's who wish to use extened health instead for RMT services are not permitted by our legal agreement with Work Safe as licensed RMTs.  Clients seeking these services are advised to contact Registered Massage Therapists Association of BC at www.rmtbc.ca for assistance in directing them to a clinic that is able to provide this service.
